Dutchman's Puzzle for Donna from CathyC

I completed a Dutchman's Puzzle block for Donna - this one was fun ;-)

I tried a new 'no waste' way of making flying geese and once I got the maths right (it took a few attempts ;-))  ...... it came together just fine

Donna, your block is packed ready to post - I just have to get out to the Post Office ;-)

From Shannon to Sandra!

Today I got this lovely maple leaf block from Shannon in my fave color!!
She also sent me another batik which is just gorgeous as well!

I am going to make another leaf today with this fabric!!

The postcard shows her beautiful hometown!  I had no idea that Boise was so pretty!

Thanks so much Shannon! I love it all!!!!!

Another block received!

I am just amazed at the blocks I have received!!

I was SO excited I took a picture of it in my car, I couldn't even wait til I got home ;)

If you can't tell the tail isn't sewn down! how cute is that?! (I might stitch it down only for fear *my* cats might play with it ;) )

Thank you SO much Karyli!!

And here is the block I sent Karyli (sorry I have been so bad about posting these!)

A sneek peek for Sunny

My very first BSA block finished and on its way to Sunny.  I loved the excuse to look through every book, magazine and website I could think of in order to find the perfect star and the need to visit a quilt shop to buy extra fabric because nothing I already had would do :-).  I'm keeping my fingers crossed she likes it.

Sneak Peek for Karen.....

Karen said she liked burgundy and black...large prints and modern prints.........after cutting everything out I thought maybe one of my "burgundy" fabrics looked more like brick red but I hope Karen likes it anyway because it's headed Westward to Oregon!

May Block for Lynn

I played around awhile on Lynn's blocks. The 1st one I made was too big - the 2nd too small (sounds like a fairy tale) and the 3rd just wasn't that great.
I really wanted to make something special and not the same ole thing.
So I will be sending the 3rd block and the 2nd block after a few revisions.
Here is a peek of the revision. I tried my hand at a little fabric folding.

Block for Dawnelle

June block for Dawnelle
It is a cold wet miserable Monday night and I have spent the day sewing. I made a bordered star for the Australian bee I'm in and then made this rainbow star flower block for Dawn, she has no preferences for blocks and given I have been making these for a quilt for my granddaughter. I am doing a post on my blog which will be long or maybe 2 or 3 short ones come have a look at what I have been sewing.
It will be posted tomorrow.

blocks so far......

plus a couple of ones from another swap, the pink batik one came from this swap very early on and the 2 star flower blocks came from an Australian group on facebook "quilt club Australia" . I was Queen been for the quilt bee#2 for April and everyone made me these blocks. One of the girls made these as trials for doing half square triangles and sent them to me. I think they all look great together.

Block from Samara

May block from Samara
This lovely block has just arrived in the mail from Samara. I am collecting any star block on a white background although if you look at the block Dawnelle sent me there is no white but that is OK as I can alternate the bright with a white. They will make a great lap quilt for a lounge by Christmas time. I'm off to sew Dawnelle's June block and finish a dress for my granddaughter Lily who is 4 on Saturday.

May, June Blocks for Andra, Cyndi

May block for Andra. She asked for a traditional block in Civil War era fabrics. My taste runs to white and modern and I love the challenge of stepping outside my box. I hope I've fulfilled your request.

And for Cyndi, a block for June. She asked for a star block ... I wonder what she's getting? :)

my june block

my astrisk flower block for June arrived from Linda. THANKS!

i like the orange dragon fly fabric in the center
i thought i'd share a picture of all my blocks....

my goal is 30 blocks and i'm planning a pieced leaf outer border

thanks for looking

Blocks coming and going ...

My swap partner for May was the lovely Holly from Havertown, PA ... who sent me these wonderful 9 patch blocks .. not one but two .. and .. a lovely bundle of fabrics as well ... and a really beautiful card too ... wow talk about being blessed ... thank you soooo much Holly ... I hope you like the block I made for you ....

and for June I have the lovely Jen D for a partner .... Jen asked for a scrappy postage stamp block ... well this one really showed me how much I need to practice my 1/4 inch seams ... haha ... it was a tricky block to do ... and because it seemed just a little 'stretched' I decided to put a border on it rather than leave it with all those little one inch blocks exposed ... hope that was ok to do Jen .. if not ... let me know and I will do you another one ... without the border ...

I did use different fabrics for all the patches .. so that made 101 different fabrics in this one block ...
